CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBSTRATE

Colorbond Steel is a Pre painted zincalume coated steel sheet used primarily for roof, guttering and fencing.

SURFACE PREPARATION

New surfaces require light abrasion with 320g sand paper to remove surface gloss. On old surfaces, chalking may be present. This chalking must be removed by light abrasion with 320g sandpaper and cleaned thoroughly. New and old Colorbond surfaces must be washed with detergent solution and rinsed thoroughly prior to painting. Allow to dry.

Painting works to be carried out between 15 and 30 degrees. Painting in direct sunlight may result in patchiness and blistering therefore it is recommended that painting in direct sunlight should occur prior to the surface heating up to temperatures above 35 degrees, usually early morning after any surface moisture has evaporated.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Drying times are approximate at 25° C and 50% relative humidity. Allow longer drying times under cool, moist or low air movement conditions. Spreading rates will vary from the quoted theoretical rates depending on application methods and surrounding conditions.
Do not paint if temperatures are below 10°C or likely to fall below 10°C during drying period
Refer to TECHNICAL DATA SHEETS for additional information.
