CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBSTRATE

Bricks are predominantly kiln-fired clay which can be glazed or unglazed. Glazed bricks are not suitable for painting.
Being a natural mineral, bricks may contain traces of vanadium which could result in staining. If a smooth surface is required the brickwork will require rendering or use of a blockfiller coating. Repair loose mortar and large cracks after pressure washing. Spalling bricks should be replaced.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Ensure previous coating system is in sound condition and firmly adherent to the substrate. If peeling and/or flaking is present, remove failed coating back to bare substrate and follow new work specification for spot priming. Clean surfaces preferably by high pressure washing to remove dirt, mould and laitenance etc prior to painting. Fill large cracks and crevices with a gap filler as well as repointing crumbling mortar. If any contaminants are found, they must be cleaned with appropriate products as per label instructions. Spot prime any bare areas as per NEW work specification sheet. If water damage is present, consult a Luxury Paints representative for further advice.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Drying times are approximate at 25° C and 50% relative humidity. Allow longer drying times under cool, moist or low air movement conditions. Spreading rates will vary from the quoted theoretical rates depending on application methods and surrounding conditions.
Do not paint if temperatures are below 10°C or likely to fall below 10°C during drying period
Refer to TECHNICAL DATA SHEETS for additional information.
