CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBSTRATE
Blueboard is paper faced compressed fibre cement, and may be presented as sheeting or moulded objects being of high density. Blueboard is usually affixed externally to metal or timber framing with expressed joints. The paper facing is more acceptable for the adherence of render, skim coats and painting than normal compressed fibre cement surfaces and allows a finer finish to be achieved. Blueboard sheeting must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Ensure previous coating system is in sound condition and firmly adherent to the substrate. High pressure wash (pressure 1500 to 2500 psi) to ensure surface is clean and free from contaminants such as dust, mould and mildew. If any contaminants are found, they must be cleaned with appropriate products as per label instructions. High pressure cleaning will also test the integrity of the previous coating to gauge the level of preparation required. If peeling and/or flaking is present, remove failed coating back to bare substrate and follow new work specification for spot priming. Spot prime any bare areas as per new work specification sheet.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Drying times are approximate at 25° C and 50% relative humidity. Allow longer drying times under cool, moist or low air movement conditions. Spreading rates will vary from the quoted theoretical rates depending on application methods and surrounding conditions.
Do not paint if temperatures are below 10°C or likely to fall below 10°C during drying period
Refer to TECHNICAL DATA SHEETS for additional information.
